Tattoos, put-simply
What are Tattoos? |
|
A tattoo is a design made when permanent ink is inserted into the skin.
The ink is inserted into the skin by a professional tattoo artist using
a machine that punctures the skin at 50-3,000 times per minute. A tattoo
is a form of body modification, a permanent design on one’s body.
Tattoos are not only used for cosmetic and decoration reasons, but also
for other purposes as well. They are used to define marks of status,
symbols of religious affiliation, spiritual devotion, sexual lures,
pledges of love, and protection. |
People today also choose to be tattooed for both cosmetic and gang-based
reasons. Many groups of people such as gangs choose to each wear the same
unique tattoo. All types of people including movie stars, models, musicians,
and sports figures are seen with tattoos, making tattooing a more popular
and accepted procedure.
What is a cosmetic tattoo?
A cosmetic tattoo is a tattoo made to look like makeup. This is a convenient
tattoo, for it allows a woman to look like she is wearing makeup even if she
is not. This type of tattoo is popular in athletes who cannot wear makeup
while they are playing and sweating, and busy people who have no time to
apply makeup. It is also popular with the physically and visually impaired
as well as those who are allergic to certain kinds of makeup. Cosmetic
tattooing can even be found on men who wish to have fuller eyebrows or more
defined features.
What is the tattoo removal process?
The tattoo removal process is a long and painful process. Tattoo removal is
preformed with a laser which passes through the skin and separates the
pigments that make up the tattoo. The separated pigments are then absorbed
by the body. This process must be repeated multiple times for a tattoo to be
fully removed. Many tattoos can not be fully removed based on what type of
ink was used and how old the tattoo is. The painful and long tattoo removal
procedure is an incentive for one to fully think about the permanency of
acquiring a tattoo before he gets one.
