Plasma Television, put-simply

What is Plasma Television?

A plasma television is a flat screen television in which light is created by excited phosphors between two panes of glass. In the television, three colors, red green and blue, are used in different distributions to form different colors. By combining these colors in different proportions, the television can form an image using the fluorescent lights. These lights are made from plasma, a gas of electrically charged electrons, known as ions. These ions release photons of energy which are visible to the eye as color. The color that is visible is dependant on the size of the wavelength of the photon. Plasma televisions have bright and vivid color on noticeably larger screens. They also have a very high contrast, allowing them to be a desirable media in which to watch movies.

What are the benefits of a plasma television?
There are many benefits of having a plasma screen television. Its size and quality of picture, alone, are great benefits. They also have a very slim design and are larger than most LCD screens. These televisions have the ability to display a very wide picture using very little material. The image quality is bright and vivid, the perfect display to watch both movies and sports events.

What are the cons of a plasma television?
The biggest drawback of plasma television is its price. Plasma televisions are much more expensive than normal televisions and LCD screens, and can be quite costly. They are also very fragile and able to break easily. In addition to this, plasma screens have a lifetime of about 50,000 hours. Yet, after 2,000 hours, the quality of picture on the television will start to decrease. Although there are many drawbacks of owning a plasma television, if the cost is not too heavy, the quality of picture is worth it.
