What is Computer Security?

Computer security is the act of trying to protect a network from unwanted intruders or viruses. It includes the need of authorization to view a file or directory in a network computer. In short, computer security is designed to control risks dealing with computers and computer networks. In a secure computer system, users are able to do only what they should be able to do. A secure system allows a user to have a means of power and communication, yet still protects them from bad outside influences.

What are external threats to computers?
The protection against external threats to computers is called computer insecurities. It protects against computer exploits, software that contains viruses, and provides a defense system for the computer. This type of protection protects against exploits, eavesdropping, service attacks, and other indirect attacks. The type of protection depends on the type of computer the service is protection. For example, a home computer will have a different type of security than a bank or airport computer. When working with external threats, the security system treats the designated computer as a safe and trusted system. In other words, it treats the computer as a safe and virus free computer to begin with. This can be a mistake, for a computer may have unsafe internal files that will not be protected against in an external security system. This type of system protects primarily against hackers and other sources of outside viruses and influence.

What are the internal threats to computers?
Internal threats of a computer are protected under computer security. This technique gives the user only a distinct set of privileges, in order to try to protect the computer system. This results in a fine-grained security system that ensures that even if a hacker attacks part of a system, it cannot attack the rest. This type of security breaks up the system into smaller components, making it simpler to protect again and harder to attack.

What are some techniques used to create security and reduce threats?
There are many techniques used to create security. These include backups, antivirus software, and firewalls. Having a backup is way of securing a system by copying every file on the computer and storing it in a separate place. They are kept in fireproof, waterproof, and heat proof places, allowing backups to also protect against natural disasters such as earthquakes, fires, and tornados. Antivirus software, such as McAfee and Avast, identify computer viruses and eliminate them before they can do any damage. Firewalls, on the other hand, protect against viruses by restricting certain network traffic, which may contain viruses, to pass through the system.
