A background check is a process in which a possible employer or other
superior gains access to specific details about one’s past through
classified information. Free background checks are primarily used by
employers in order to confirm details of a resume and to make sure that
the potential employee is the correct person for the job.
Another reason an employer will perform a background check is to
observe whether or not the potential employee had any instances of
liability in past jobs. Consequently, if the job involves working with
children, employers wish to make sure that the employee has no history
of anything involved with child abuse or abduction.
What is the Brady Bill?
The Brady Bill is a recently passed law which states that anyone
purchasing a handgun is subject to a background check. The purchase of
other firearms and dangerous substances also requires a background check
under this law. Other groups of people under this bill include truck
drivers and those working for airline transportation services. In
addition to the Brady Bill, there are many other laws that require
employment background checks for those working with the elderly, the
disabled, and children.
